On’s Cloudmonster series goes back to 2022, when the original launched with a springy, max-cushioned sole that made road-running a joy. Four years later, the brand combined the best elements of this model and its successor to create the dynamic Cloudmonster 3.

The On Cloudmonster 3 comes with an engineered mesh upper made from high-quality materials. Breathable zones mark the forefoot alongside an internal toe guard, the heel features a knitted panel for durability, and reflective accents provide enhanced visibility. The traditional lacing incorporates cuffed eyelets and an extra lace loop at the top, combining with the gusseted tongue and sturdy heel counter to ensure a secure fit. Slim yet soft tongue cushioning reduces lace pressure, and the rearfoot is well-padded for all-round comfort. Lastly, an elastic strap spans the instep, allowing the wearer to tuck their laces safely out the way so as to eliminate snagging.

On has upgraded the sole of the Cloudmonster 3 to include three layers of CloudTec cushioning for outstanding responsiveness. Its Helion midsole foam is fairly firm, offering inherent stability and solid impact absorption. The forefoot features a distinct rocker geometry that provides strong forward momentum and smooth transitions, while the versatile 6mm drop accommodates different types of runners. Additional propulsion and stability come from the full-length nylon Speedboard set into the midsole, and the heel is slightly bevelled and flared to stabilise and guide the foot as it lands. The durable, compressed rubber outsole has substantial grooves and a large central channel to maximise flexibility, with each grip pad featuring diamond-shaped tread patterns that provide reliable grip on both dry and wet roads.

Aesthetically, the On Cloudmonster 3 retains the signature minimalist look of its predecessors. Small reflective logos on the sleek upper produce a subtly eye-catching effect alongside the exaggerated On Running text on its lateral sidewall, while the triple-stack of distinctive CloudTec pods creates a bold contrast underfoot. On launched the Cloudmonster 3 in March 2026 through the charismatic Real Energy campaign. Renowned filmmaker Rawtape directed an atmospheric short film for the release showcasing the stylish silhouette’s ability to energise runners in their everyday lives.

The On Cloudmonster 3 builds on the momentum of its two predecessors, evolving the series with more reactive cushioning while retaining its iconic style. Ideal as a daily shoe for neutral runners, its versatile design works for everything from casual recovery runs to fast-paced tempo workouts.
