LeBron TR1 training shoes

Superstar basketball player LeBron James has worked with Nike throughout his career, designing a long-running series of signature shoes. In 2024, the pair introduced his first training shoe, the LeBron TR1, as a versatile workout shoe for all athletes.

The upper of the Nike LeBron TR1 features a densely woven textile with a neoprene-like fabric down the medial side and soft internal layers for comfort and durability. Its integrated tongue provides a snug fit as the cable lacing system and reinforced eyelets lock the foot in place and the wide last gives room for foot swelling. Pull loops on the tongue and heel allow easy entry, and the padded collar feels plush around the ankle. Meanwhile, a rubberised TPU panel with a grid-like texture rises up over the lateral flank to increase durability and stabilise the foot, particularly during side-to-side movements.

The LeBron TR1 is supported by a dual-density midsole that blends comfort-focused, lightweight foam with a denser compound to form a stable, durable, shock-absorbing foundation. As well as offering a wide, stable platform through the forefoot, it produces a nimble, springy feeling thanks to the removal of the strobel lining, which gives the foot direct access to the soft foam underneath. The distinctive, TR1-specific rubber outsole combines herringbone-style tread lines with a unique inverted Waffle grip pattern to provide excellent traction on a range of indoor and outdoor surfaces, thus delivering maximum versatility. Large channels run from heel to toe down its centre, adding yet more grip, and four grooves curve across its forefoot for outstanding flexibility.

LeBron’s debut training silhouette is both functional and stylish, with a stunning look that makes it ideal for all-day wear. A large, textured lateral Swoosh is joined by LeBron’s Crown logo on the forefoot, with another etched subtly into the outsole rubber. Nike’s famous logo also appears on the tongue loop, and replaces the forefoot Crown on certain editions. Lastly, the legendary player’s signature has been printed onto the cushy insole for added flair.

The Nike LeBron TR1 launched as the perfect training partner to the player’s 22nd signature shoe. The classic ‘Dunk Man’ edition in Charcoal Grey and Neon Green came first and was soon followed by heritage colourways including the ‘Zero Dark 30’, which nods to his habit of turning off social media during the NBA Playoffs, the ‘Purple Rain’, whose rich, velvety tones honour his love for the late, great Prince, and the ‘Better With Age’, which celebrates his remarkable longevity. Ahead of its release in autumn 2024, LeBron demonstrated its lightweight, ergonomic, versatile build, appearing in a Player Exclusive Olympics-themed colourway and stating that it is to be used by athletes “in constant pursuit of greatness… during any workout, any time, any place.”
