Devin Booker basketball shoes

Since joining the Phoenix Suns in 2015, Devin Booker has become one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA, breaking multiple franchise records in a remarkable career. In 2024, after years wearing classic Kobe basketball shoes, Booker received his own signature shoe, appropriately named the Nike Book.

Booker had a significant impact on his first signature shoe, directing designer Ben Nethongkome to take inspiration from the Nike Blazer, Air Jordan 1 and Air Force 1 as well as his ‘72 Chevy Blazer K5, which has a vintage aesthetic and a modern engine. In similar fashion, the Book 1 had a retro upper made from premium leather, suede, canvas and twill, and a high-tech sole incorporating top-tier Nike technologies including supportive, flexible Cushlon 2.0 foam and a responsive, shock-absorbing heel Zoom Air unit. Stability came from the midfoot shank, lateral TPU midsole cage and stiff heel counter and reliable traction from the full-length herringbone outsole, while containment was provided by the strong lacing system, reinforced upper eyelets and generous internal padding.

Aesthetically, the Nike Book 1 had a compelling nostalgic look punctuated by book-themed accents and intriguing personal details. The heel tab was inspired by a book spine, with the words “Chapter One” printed along it and his birth year on the page-like pull loop. Meanwhile, the insole had a printed barcode with Booker’s jersey number and the area codes of important locations from his life. During the 2023-24 season, he wore various designs celebrating classic Nike sneakers including the Air Max 95 ‘Neon’, the Jordan 11 ‘Cool Grey’ and the ACG Air Mowabb ‘Twine’, which helped promote the release of the ‘Chapter One’ and ‘Mirage’ launch colourways that debuted in spring 2024.

In 2025, Booker continued to impress in the Book 1, becoming the Phoenix Suns’ all-time lead scorer as Nethongkome worked on a follow-up for early 2026. A clear evolution of the series, the Book 2 is offered in two different styles, one with a protective canvas rand, 3M highlights and flexible mesh influenced by the Nike Air Spiridon, the other featuring a synthetic moulded nubuck shell for durable containment and a contemporary feel. Forefoot Zoom Air makes for a propulsive toe-off and upgraded Cushlon 3.0 foam provides greater energy return and impact protection, while its low-to-the-ground design delivers court feel and control. A lateral outrigger improves stability, and the cuffed lacing and gusseted tongue combine for excellent lockdown. Lastly, its distinctive, AF1-inspired outsole evokes the Arizona desert with its grippy sunburst tread and cactus-like elements.

The Nike Book 2 is as visually appealing as its predecessor, with the Spiridon-style outer creating a captivating throwback look and the moulded upper featuring distinctive barred sidewalls. Continuing the book theme, the heel displays the words “Chapter Two”, while each colourway includes storytelling elements such as the Suns-inspired tones of the ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Rising’ launch editions.
