When Nike first launched the Greater Than series in 2021, it featured a range of models designed to enhance specific basketball skills like running and cutting. In 2025, the franchise pushed the boundaries of innovation with the cutting-edge G.T. Future.

The upper of the Nike G.T. Future has a precision-moulded synthetic exoskeleton that wraps protectively around the entire foot. Padding out the interior is a thick layer of foam whose cushy comfort complements the structured durability of the outer. The heel is nicely cushioned, and the tongue incorporates a soft, neoprene-like material, while an internal fabric liner improves containment. Concealed eyelets protect the lacing, and broad loops running up the centre of the tongue keep it firmly in place. Lastly, perforations on the medial midfoot and tongue add a touch of breathability.

The G.T. Future is founded upon an advanced sole filled with elite-level cushioning technologies. A slab of plush Cushlon 3.0 foam forms a comfortable, shock-absorbing base, while the full-length Zoom Air Strobel combines with a forefoot Zoom Air unit to provide outstanding energy return for remarkable propulsion at toe off. The outsole is attached directly to the upper, producing sturdy torsional rigidity and stabilising the cushy midsole foam. Dependable traction comes from a collection of geometric tread patterns, with concentric triangles in the forefoot for multidirectional grip and curving lines around the heel to smooth out transitions. A thin, removable insole completes the setup, boosting comfort and enabling the use of custom orthotics.

Alongside its forward-thinking design, the Nike G.T. Future has a unique, avant garde style that creates a standout look. Moulded contours swoop seamlessly upwards from the sole towards the collar, culminating in distinctive angular wings that float over the ankles, giving the appearance of a high-top while maintaining a low-cut feel. Asymmetric Swooshes are attached to each flank, with another pointing dramatically down the tongue and G.T. Future branding on the outsole for a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. Released in a variety of colourways with stunning tonal gradients and reflective finishes, the Future works just as well as an eye-catching lifestyle sneaker as it does a performance basketball shoe.

Nike first showcased the G.T. Future during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, with American rapper Wale wearing a lustrous coppery bronze edition while performing at the Future Game. The event highlights the next generation of talent, such as AJ Dybantsa, who displayed the G.T. Future’s ability to enhance his already powerful jumping abilities as he took to the court in a stealthy black colourway. Following its winter 2025 release, the silhouette was involved in an exclusive springtime collaboration with Division Street’s Ducks of a Feather, whose iridescent Metallic Nova colourway references both the mallard and the Oregon Ducks’ team in a striking celebration of nature, sport and design innovation.
