Vomero Premium

The highly respected Nike Vomero is known for providing plush cushioning and comprehensive comfort. In late 2024, it became one of three key models in Nike’s revamped road running lineup, with the pinnacle of this three-tiered system being the Vomero Premium – a revolutionary silhouette with unprecedented cushioning.

The Nike Vomero Premium is designed to facilitate comfortable, effortless running, beginning with its engineered mesh upper. Highly breathable and stretchy, this thin material moulds gently around the foot, and its distinct lack of panelling helps to keep weight down. Reinforcements appear around the eyelets, with internal padding on the toe, collar and ankle to ensure that key areas are protected. A pillowy tab supports the heel, with another soft cushion at the top of the tongue preventing pressure from the laces as its integrated loop holds them securely in place. Meanwhile, reflective toe stripes provide low-light illumination.

The Vomero Premium’s enormous sole unit stands at 55mm in the heel and 45mm in the forefoot, making it the largest ever used on a Nike running shoe. Inspired by the anti-gravity treadmills which athletes use to enhance training, it combines two cutting-edge cushioning technologies – ZoomX and Zoom Air – in a powerful new way based on data from athletes. Full-length ZoomX foam protects and preserves the feet and joints while also delivering around 85% energy return, reducing the impact of training and allowing runners to work harder for longer. The forefoot and heel Zoom Air pods boost this responsiveness as they expand outwards through windows in the sole to produce a profoundly propulsive effect. Underfoot, a Waffle-style outsole made from high-abrasion rubber delivers durable traction for miles and miles of running.

The striking midsole is the centrepiece of Nike Vomero Premium, its epic height and visible Air creating a standout look. Although the upper has minimal overlays, it continues this bold look through eye-catching design details. A classic Swoosh appears on the lateral flank, with another reversed on the medial heel and a subtle logo delicately embossed onto the midsole. Exaggerated “Air” lettering accents both sidewalls, with more branding on the stylish tongue badge. Finally, the shoe’s remarkable stack height has been etched into the outsole in celebration of Nike’s innovation.

Ahead of the Vomero Premium’s October 2025 release, Nike showcased its so-called ‘super-trainer’ capabilities through a partnership with Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon as she prepared to take on the Breaking4 Project. Attempting to become the first female runner to break the 4-minute-mile barrier, she trained in the Vomero Premium, stating that it reduced the impact on her body, thus allowing her to “recover faster” and “train harder”. Indeed, recovery runs and easy daily training are what the silhouette has been built for, with Nike proclaiming it “the ultimate recovery trainer”.
