Rejuven8 Run sneakers

Ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Nike released a distinctive recovery shoe designed to help athletes relax and unwind after hard days of competition. Inspired by the sight of a young child placing a flexible netting normally used to protect fruit over his foot, this innovative silhouette became popular amongst athletes, who enjoyed its easy wearability. Known as the Rejuven8 Run, it returned almost twenty years later as a comfort-focused daily sneaker.

The upper of the Nike Rejuven8 Run features a dual-layered design with a rubberised outer webbing over a textile mesh inner that can be fully removed and worn on its own. Both layers are incredibly flexible and highly breathable, thus offering maximum comfort, while the roomy forefoot accommodates a range of foot types. A sturdy bumper protects the toes, and pull tabs on the integrated tongue and heel make for easy on and off. On its own, the sleeve-like inner fits snugly around the foot, and when it sits inside the soft outer, punched eyelets with traditional laces allow the wearer to achieve even greater lockdown.

The foundation of the Rejuven8 Run is a comfortable foam sole with shock-absorbing Nike Air cushioning in the heel. A thin layer of rubber underpins the inner section, providing enough traction for it to be worn on its own, and the outer part has a sticky rubber outsole lined with multiple flex grooves that allow the foot to move freely while strongly gripping a range of surfaces, even slippery ones.

The influence of innovative silhouettes from Nike’s back catalogue can be seen in the aesthetic of the Nike Rejuven8 Run, including the popular Presto, the experimental Kukini and the futuristic Zvezdochka. Its distinctive latticework upper and textured midsole deliver a look that is uniquely charismatic, while its elegantly minimal branding consists of an embossed Swoosh on the lateral midsole, a miniature logo on the forefoot and subtle Air lettering on the pull tabs.

Nike prepared for the relaunch of the Rejuven8 Run by creating a sophisticated collaboration with Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons at the end of 2025. Together, they produced two high-class, monochromatic colourways featuring one-piece uppers with integrated Flywire cables and co-branded insoles. Various general release editions came in early 2026, including the striking ‘Rust Factor’ and the vibrant ‘Light Crimson’, and bold designs such as the electrifying ‘Jelly’ and the radiant ‘Sunflower’, with its bright, flowery inner sleeve, followed throughout the summer.

The Nike Rejuven8 Run is a unique retro sneaker with a recovery-focused design ideal for relaxing in style on warm summer days.
