G.T. Jump basketball shoes

The Nike Greater Than series was initially launched in 2021 with a trio of shoes designed for specific basketball skills. Alongside models for cutting and running, this collection included the Nike G.T. Jump, whose aim is to enhance the player's ability to perform propulsive leaps, whether for blocking, shooting or dunking.

The debut G.T. Jump features a Nike Jumpwire upper that is breathable and durable, with tough panelling protecting the forefoot and a hard-wearing fused overlay following the edge of the eyestay and the high-cut collar. Flywire-style lacing secures and stabilises the foot, a heel loop allows easy entry and all of the materials flex comfortably as the wearer moves across the court. Its springy sole is designed to provide maximum push-off force through the combination of a full-length Zoom Strobel and large Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel. This highly responsive cushioning is contained within a Cushlon foam midsole, while its energy return is greatly enhanced by the innovative Jump Frame which encases the whole setup, making it both springy and stable. A multidirectional herringbone traction pattern offers outstanding grip, with a large medial cutout and multiple perforations in its rubber surface ensuring it remains flexible.

Following the success of the OG silhouette, the Nike G.T. Jump 2 was released in 2023. Its lightweight Leno-weave mesh upper is incredibly breathable yet strong and stable. Fused reinforcements bolster the forefoot and eyestay, and the sturdy, mid-cut TPU collar reliably secures the ankle and heel with help from the sculpted padding. This also makes for a snug, comfortable fit, while the internal straps and integrated tongue contain the forefoot, and the visually striking ankle pods protect against collisions with other players. Underfoot, the cushioning maintains the series’ reputation for propulsive bounce through an evolved setup that pairs a full-length Zoom Strobel with dual Zoom Air units in the forefoot. The springy, stabilising Jump Frame returns in a new form alongside Phylon foam and a large React foam heel wedge, which delivers top-quality impact protection and comfort together with maximum responsiveness. This is all supported by a new data-driven tread pattern on the hard-wearing XDR rubber outsole, its rippling grip lines and wide forefoot producing dependable traction and stability.

The G.T. Jump series has been seen regularly on NBA courts, with top players such as multiple All-Star power forward Karl-Anthony Towns often choosing to wear distinctive Player Exclusive models to express his own personal style while showing off the shoe’s remarkable responsiveness.
