In 2021, Nike launched three basketball silhouettes in its so-called ‘Greater Than’ series, one of which was crafted to emphasise speed. Originally known as the G.T. Run, it was renamed to reflect the high-energy, maximum-effort players it was aimed at. In 2024, Nike released the innovative third edition: the G.T. Hustle 3.

The upper of the Nike G.T. Hustle 3 is made of a lightweight Radial Knit mesh with different zones for breathability and durability creating a comfortably stretchy yet supportive structure that snugly contains the foot. The ridged heel features a sturdy counter alongside plush collar padding to protect the ankle and Achilles while also providing firm rearfoot lockdown and stability. More ventilation comes through the macropores on the tongue as its pillowy cushioning eliminates pressure from the laces, which are shielded by internalised eyelets for maximum longevity.

Supporting the G.T. Hustle 3 is a full-length foam midsole with a dual stack of highly responsive Zoom Air units in the forefoot. This consists of a large-volume Zoom Air Strobel over a bottom-loaded, horseshoe-shaped Mustang unit that wraps around a lateral groove to allow natural flexion. The forefoot setup produces an immensely propulsive sensation at toe off, and the substantial heel stack offers powerful impact protection. On top of this, a cushy ZoomX foam insole improves comfort, while the top-loaded midfoot shank stiffens and supports, giving stabilising torsional rigidity. Further stability is provided by the wide forefoot, whose rockered toe encourages fast, easy transitions. The rest of the hard-wearing rubber outsole is flat, its rounded concentric tread lines offering reliable traction on indoor courts while reducing weight through a cutout section in the heel.

With its boldly stacked sole and refined upper, the Nike G.T. Hustle 3 creates a stunning aesthetic. The Radial Knit upper is full of intriguing textures, with a dynamic lateral Swoosh with a thick outline contrasting the smaller one printed onto the medial flank. A GT-branded badge adorns the heel and the tongue patch features sophisticated “GT03 Hustle” embroidery. Charismatic contours ripple over the midsole to echo the elegantly curved tread, before the visible Air Zoom cushioning on the lateral forefoot completes the eye-catching look.

The G.T. Hustle 3 debuted in summer 2024 as part of Nike’s ‘Blueprint Pack’. Crafted for the Paris Olympics, it celebrates the brand’s Air-powered innovations along with its legendary co-founder Bill Bowerman and his dedication to improving athletic performance. Later, the silhouette became the canvas for the first ever NIL athlete Player Exclusive model when University of Connecticut guard Paige Bueckers worked with Nike to create the elegant ‘Baby Blue and Lavender’ colourway during the final year of her illustrious college career.
