Jordan 4 Retro OG
The captivating tones found on this Jordan 4 Retro OG sneaker are based on Jordan’s first NBA team, the Chicago Bulls. This gives it a classic appearance, while its familiar features establish the popular Jordan 4 aesthetic. Beginning underfoot, the outsole has a Tech Grey toe cap filled with embossed stars that rests up against an island of white below the forefoot. Around the sides and back of this piece of rubber is a bright Fire Red section with similar herringbone traction patterns that have been oriented differently to give omnidirectional grip. This zingy tone continues into the midfoot, where it wraps around another section of white, this one smooth and with Fire Red Nike branding in its centre. Under the heel, Tech Grey returns, once again with herringbone indentations to provide comprehensive stability.
A tonally similar yet materially different midsole brings together Fire Red around its toe and lateral side with an elegant white layer that encircles the heel and extends down the medial flank. Visible Air stands out below the heel, creating an eye-catching effect while also affording the wearer plenty of comfort. The last aspect of the midsole is a band of black polyurethane that extends backwards from the Fire Red part of the forefoot to reach around the heel, only stopping for a moment to allow room for a portion of this vibrant red on the lateral sidewall.
The upper, meanwhile, is largely composed of elegant white leather. This material takes up the forefoot overlay, the panel that encompasses the toe, flanks and heel, and finally the quarter panel which itself stretches to the collar. At the back of the shoe, the aforementioned panel makes way for the large black heel panel, a dual line of stitching bordering the former as it curves downwards away from the collar. Fire Red Nike Air text has been boldly embossed into the centre of the heel, and a convenient pull tab rises up above it.
Holding the white laces tightly in place are four fan-shaped cages marked with holes and coloured brilliant red like some of the other elements of the sneaker. The top one on each side of the collar has been attached to a black triangular adornment that connects to the leather panel on the flank for structural solidity. Circular areas of white netting over a black background can be seen behind them and again at the bottom of the eyestay. This last part moves along the top of the foot before shifting into the white tongue at its peak.
Inside, the shoe switches from Fire Red on its padded inner walls to black on the sockliner. A set of Nike Air branding appears on this last feature in more blazing red tones, with the same hue reappearing on the back of the tongue. Here, there is a white patch with Air Jordan lettering woven into it, before another label completes the look on the frontside of the tongue. Its white surface contains both a Fire Red Jumpman logo and the word “Flight” written in black for a stylish finish to this striking sneaker.
