Since the first Gel-Nimbus was released in the late 1990s, ASICS has continuously evolved its design to provide athletes with ever-greater comfort and support. In 2025, the brand launched the most advanced version of its flagship running shoe to date: the Gel-Nimbus 27.

To achieve an even softer step than its predecessors, the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 comes with two extra millimetres of foam in its impressive FF Blast Plus Eco midsole, making it incredibly comfortable while maintaining its lightweight build. Incorporating around 24% bio-based material, this sustainable sole houses PureGEL cushioning in the heel for extra protection and a cloud-like feeling underfoot which is said to “calm the runner’s body”. The OrthoLite X-55 sockliner ensures a plush underfoot experience, and the shoe’s sturdy rubber outsole brings together the brand’s ASICSGRIP and AHARPLUS technologies to provide exceptional durability, flexibility and traction.

The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 features a brand new upper made from an engineered jacquard mesh that is lightweight and highly breathable. This ensures that the shoe remains cool inside so the wearer can run in comfort for miles and miles. The knit collar and integrated pull-tab combine to make the shoe easy to get on and off, while the gusseted tongue offers excellent lockdown when added to the carefully shaped midfoot as it adapts to the contours of the foot.

ASICS has taken care to manufacture the Gel-Nimbus 27 with minimal use of water and low carbon emissions, and its 100% recycled upper further enhances its sustainability. The shoe’s reduced environmental impact is announced by the emblem on the left insole, which is just one of the subtle branding elements found across the silhouette. Others include the delicate text either printed or simply etched into its midsole, the model name on its forefoot and the ASICS logos swooping elegantly down each flank.
