Jordan 1 Retro High OG

The trio of bold colours used on this Jordan 1 Retro High OG follows the classic palette of the Chicago colourway, but its implementation of alternative materials across the design gives it a look all of its own. Despite this, it retains the solid foundation of a rubber outsole with thick lugs looping around the heel, ringed indentations emanating below the forefoot and star-shaped nodes capping the toe, all in black. This varied set of tread patterns delivers comprehensive traction from heel to toe, allowing the white midsole to take care of comfort with its plush blend of Air and foam cushioning.

On the upper is where an intriguing mix of materials has been used. Things begin with traditional white leather over the toe box and midfoot panels, the former marked with breathable perforations, the latter thinning as they extend towards the heel. Then, three vibrant University Red overlays encircle the forefoot, their polished leather surfaces giving off a certain lustre that continues into the eyestay and the collar as well. Meanwhile, the tongue, which is also University Red in tone, is made from a smooth, velvety satin that has earned the shoe the nickname Satin Red. Black laces tie up over it, and a black label has been sewn into its peak with Nike Air branding woven through it, once again in a bright red hue.

More University Red satin reaches down the inner walls, giving a luxurious feel around the foot, before the insole switches to black with red Nike Air branding, just like the tongue patch. Yet more eye-catching textures then decorate the back half of the shoe as the heel counter and collar wrap are both made of a black faux snakeskin leather. Its scaly exterior is marked by a set of Air Jordan Wings that have been imprinted into the lateral side of the collar. Finally, the unmissable sidewall swooshes, which are also made from this textured material, have a deep black colouration that concludes the sneaker with an eye-catching tonal contrast as they power down the white flanks.
