Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man ‘Across the Spider-Verse’

The blend of high quality materials and classic Chicago colours on this Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ makes it a sneaker with plenty of appeal. Based on the shoe worn by animated character Miles Morales, it is nicknamed Next Chapter as it follows the second part of his epic story. This design has a semi-translucent University Red outsole that glows in the dark. Its mix of circular and linear grip patterns lend the wearer superior traction before the Air-infused midsole delivers soft comfort in partnership with the foam cushioning filling out the rest of its interior. Its exterior, meanwhile, is coated in a slightly off-white tone that gives the sneaker a retro look.

Resting on top of this solid base is a white leather upper layered with a patchwork of University Red overlays featuring a variety of materials. While the former is visible through the midfoot panels and the perforated toe box, the latter panels can be seen around the forefoot and along the eyestay, as well as encircling the bottom of the heel and the high-cut collar. Each comes in its own combination of separate pieces, beginning in the forefoot, which has traditional University Red leather alongside a block of lush suede on the lateral side, a section of patent leather on the medial flank and two more segments filled out in a marbled pattern of deep red tones. A similar effect has been achieved on the collar part of the eyestay and the heel counter, which is made up of three parts – a lateral piece of suede and a medial one of leather, both in University Red, with a larger area in the centre carrying the dynamic marbled graphic.

Elsewhere, the eyestay and the collar wrap incorporate two more patterns: one with rows of tiny pink dots, the other with big multi-coloured spots that overlap to resemble an illustration style often used in comic books. In fact, all of the graphics found across this sneaker reflect the different animation techniques used in the movie, bringing it a captivating aesthetic to match. More traditional AJ1 features have also been used on this shoe, including the white Nike Air branding on the University Red patch sewn into the top of the creamy white tongue. Black laces tie up over this last feature, with more black tones on show across both the patent leather collar and the inner lining. The insole is also black, though a set of University Red branding is printed onto it. On the outer, two glossy black swooshes emerge from a square of white leather in the centre of the heel, each one stretching down one of the shoe’s white sidewalls. Lastly, a pair of Air Jordan Wings adorns the lateral collar in a final hint of University Red with a dash of yellow shadowing it, thus finishing this sneaker with a characteristically vibrant flourish.
